Anti-squirrel plants and flowers
-
The Garden Frog with C Renee on Jul 31, 2014Squirrels really do not bother plants or flowers unless you plant peanuts and tulips. Sure squirrels will dig in the occasional pot on the deck or patio looking for nuts or forage for something good to eat but for the most part they do not bother most flowers. Squirrels bury their nuts so if they do dig up a plant it is because they think there is something underneath. I live under 13 -50+ foot oaks and squirrels never really bothered anything except for tulip & hyacinth bulbs. I know squirrels and other critters like some veggies like tomatoes so if you grow a garden I would fence it in and protect it. Squirrels are bothersome to dogs and cats but not your average flower or garden. Good luck and happy gardening!Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Aug 01, 2014I don't think I've ever seen a list of squirrel-resistant plants, but I'll bet they would generally avoid anything with fragrant/aromatic foliage.Helpful Reply
