Rustic & Refined Living Room Tour

I got a tad bit crafty in my living room and re-purposed the blinds and two thrift store wingback chairs to fit my needs. I know purple is a real color but trying to find chairs that fit my style and my budget just wasn't happening. So when I came across 2 wingback chairs for under 30 dollars for both, I knew I had to go back to the basics of making them fit my color scheme. I dyes them using Rit Dye. You can see their beginning here http://www.rustic-refined.com/2014/07/wingback-chair-makeover.html . The blinds, well trying to add one blind to a living room with 4 existing and trying to match perfect....also didn't work out. So all 5 blinds got a painted treatment and a stencil. You can see that process here http://www.rustic-refined.com/2014/07/rattan-blind-diy-update.html Now for the tour!
I photographed the blinds/curtains early in the morning, just using lamp light to showcase the painted and stenciled treatment they all got.
Th curtain rods also got raised a few inches higher. Which I am loving already!
My next plan for my living room is to paint the 3 cream walls a VERY pale/light grey....but that will probably happen over Fall or Winter.
My overstock.com chair fits nice in a corner as a reading nook with pillows and magazines piled in some crab pots. One an antique and one....well, not.
I am still on a rug hunt also....

Kathleen Conery on Nov 01, 2014Your purple wingbacks are wonderful! I would love to hear more about how they're doing post dye. I read your blog post about how to do (very good tutorial, thank you!), but I was wondering about colorfastness (no rubbing off), and how did you protect (or did you not need to?) the internal upholstery and wood frame. I've dyed tons of fabrics and garments, but never a chair! You are so brave!

BenniGholami on Jan 20, 2015It's definitely not easy to carry off a purple theme! I had a customer who tried to do then when rtying to put her house up for sale, things did NOT go well…

Rustic & Refined on Jan 21, 2015@BenniGholami I admit it is hard! I have to tame myself from going too crazy, thats why I just repainted the walls a much better color...after seeing this I thought: I can do better...
