Little Ikea Stool Makeover

Going to an Ikea is a big deal for us since the closest one is four hours away so when we make our annual trip, I work up a good list and walk out with a heaping cart and packed car. The little Bekvam stool has been on my list for a while. See, I'm a shorty, and a lazy, and am tired of getting our 3-step ladder out every time I can't reach something (which is quite often). Nor did I want to get an ugly commercial-looking step stool. The Bekvam is much cuter and was only $15. Even left as it is, it's much prettier than a normal step stool but is the perfect little canvas to have some fun with.
I had the wood stain, test paints (gray and white), gold spray paint, and supplies already. I just had to buy the little can of polyurethane.
There are so many possibilities with this little guy, I want one for each room so I can play around with them! Why settle for a plain piece when you can make it fun?

Sally Roesner Fuhr on Aug 07, 2014Love the idea, but the gray is icky. Maybe a color stain to coordinate with your room.

Teri on Aug 07, 2014I must have the fold up one! Ikea's 2.5 hours away for me, so I understand your mega shopping completely! I need to get up there for some stuff myself...will have to look for this stool while I'm there. Really cool project!
