A/C never stops running

Lori Jackson on Aug 07, 2014Sounds like a bad thermostat to me. They are not that expensive and pretty easy to replace. You might try that. At the very least, it is probably less than a house call will be.Helpful Reply

Jeanette S on Aug 07, 2014The first thing you need to do is check and see what temperature you have the thermostat set on. We are in the hottest part of the summer and you can't keep a house at 70 degrees in the Florida heat without it running all the time. Some places in the south do not get cool at night. Also, make sure it is not on "Run" but on "Auto". If it is new, there is a warranty. Call for service.Helpful Reply

KatieAnn on Aug 07, 2014Is the air conditioner compressor running all the time or is it just the fan running to disperse the cool air through the house? It would seem if the unit was running not stop it would continue to get colder in the house. The fan on our AC runs quite a bit but the compressor isn't on all the time. I am told this is normal for our AC. Call a AC man and get it checked out so you aren't wasting money & energy.Helpful Reply

Priscila on Aug 07, 2014We have the fan on auto and we put it at 77 when we get home from work. The thermostat is new and we had the ac person look at it and they said it was working properly. Maybe it's just too hot outside. We are in South Florida. We keep the house at 80 when we leave and then turn it down to 77 when we're homeHelpful Reply

Jay Taylor on Aug 11, 2014Generally,ACs if maintained well does not give problems. The best solution is to have annual maintenance contract with a good service provider or from the company you purchased the AC .A dirty AC air filter prevents air flow from going acrossy our indoor evaporator coil. Remember to change your air filters every 30 days in the summer months.Helpful Reply
