Chippy Door Upcycled into a Headboard

I've been renovating a beach cottage for the past year and came across this great old door up in the rafters of the garage.
When a friend asked me recently to design an Adventure/Map bedroom for her seven year old son, I thought it was the perfect time to put it to use.
I'm designing his bedroom around the world travel concept using maps, globes and flags and thought this headboard complete with reading lanterns, would make a great addition to the room.
I even added some old lanterns for reading in bed!
Check out my link for the complete headboard tutorial.

Karen Queck Stonestreet on Nov 14, 2016It looks to me as if she has sanded the entire door. So, I don't see chipping paint as an issue. The door is beautiful as a headboard.

Henry Quinn on Nov 14, 2016chippy paint is probably many layers of old lead paint, caution when handling, scraping, or sanding
