DIY Chalkboard

When we moved into our present home the previous owners left several pieces behind that they no longer wanted. One of the pieces was an old mirror that I was really not very fond of but didn't want to toss out thinking I could come up with an idea for it.
I had just painted a little bench for out very blah entry way but it needed something on the wall above it. I thought about it long and hard and couldn't decide what to do. Then one afternoon I spied the mirror and decided that it was perfect for what I wanted.
I painted the mirror portion with black chalkboard paint then the wood with DIY chalk paint. Then I sanded it lightly to give it a nice smooth feel. I then used a black and a gold Sharpie paint pen to outline the detail of the mirror and give it a bit of pizzaz.
My hubby hung it up over the little bench and added a small palm plant. That area is no longer blah but brings a bit of smile when we come home now. You can read more detail at the URL below.
