Giving A Wall Pocket A New Lease On Life

How many of you remember wall pockets from your great-grandmother's house? Go ahead raise your hand!
They were quite the "arrow" or "bunting" of home decor back in the early 1900's. No self-respecting Martha Stewart wannabe housewife would be without one. What? That was before Martha's time? She's no spring chicken you know!
They were normally china, shaped like vases, animals, houses, you name it and had a hole in the back where you could hang it on your wall. People would put flowers in them (they're sometimes called wall vases) to fancy up their blank wall space.
But home decor changes. Wall pockets fell out of favor. They went the way of last year's burlap or the 1980's goose.
Well, when I found a wall pocket for a pittance at a yard sale, I just knew I could do something fun with it.
I repurposed my vintage wall pocket into a wall organizer for the side of my fridge.
Once school starts back up it will be my little command center for all things school.
If you thought I pounded a nail into my refrigerator to hang this thing you are wrong :) I used this adhesive backed magnetic tape and put it on the back of the wall pocket.
I decided to make these cute little Scrabble tile magnets while I was at it. I just simply removed the adhesive from another long strip of the magnetic tape and plopped the Scrabble letters down on it. A ten minute craft, if I ever saw one (probably less than that actually, but I wasn't going to time myself)!
