Antique Chest of Drawers in Smokey Slate

Almost 3 years ago I started painting furniture and have enjoyed almost every minute of it. ;) I've done over 400 pieces and there are still a few that can make my heart beat a little faster when I first see them. This beauty was one of them, but it needed a little help. Veneer damage had it sitting on the sidelines, but now it can be proud to be front and center!
Before. One whole side was too damaged to be saved so had to be removed. There were also lots of chips on the drawer fronts. I filled them with wood filler and sanded smooth, then gave it two coats of Shellac to help prevent bleed through.
I used Smokey Slate from Behr (color matched at Sherwin Williams) for the body and details and Cream Silk by Behr for the drawer fronts.
The hardware that was on it was not original so I replaced it with these pearl studded knobs from Hobby Lobby.
The top tier was mahogany and the bottom some unidentified veneer that was pretty rough. I sanded it all down and stained it with Java Gel from General Finishes, followed up with two coats of Minwax Polycrylic.
