From Awkward Inset to Floating Frame Shelves

When we purchased our home, one of my first decorating challenges was figuring out what to do with the 5 inch deep inset in the corner of our living room. I originally tried tucking a console table in the nook, but it just looked awkward. So I sat and stared at the space for a while until it hit me - floating photo shelves!
Five inches really isn't deep enough for much - but it turns out to be the perfect depth for tabletop picture frames.
We added some small accessories in between the photo frames for interest and to tie in the accent color of our living room.
Details on how we installed the shelves can be found on my blog, using the link below.

Angela, Blue i Style on Aug 11, 2015Looks like the Hometalk team meant to share a kitchen cabinet post on Facebook, but accidentally pasted in the link for the post about my DIY floating shelves in my living room. If you were looking for the kitchen cabinet post, I think you'll find it here: http://www.hometalk.com/diy/organize/kitchen/wasted-space-in-the-kitchen-7519233?utm_medium=facebook&date=20150811
