Another identification question: What kind of bush is this?

I have two of these that produced white flowers in the spring and are huge -- I'd like to know what they are before trimming does anyone know?

Bushes that flower in early spring should be trimmed right after they are done blooming, as they bloom on the previous years growth. If you trim them now you won't get flowers next spring. Cut out the oldest branches close to the ground to rejuvenate and you should get new growth; they then won't be bare at the bottom. Could be lilacs, but can't tell for sure from your pics.

Based on a reponse to my other question on a similiar shrub, it seems very similar to Pacific/Mountain Ninebark, at least the stems do with the flaking/peeling bark. It however is quite tall: 10-12 feet I'd guess, and the leaves have an oval shape. The flowers if I remember correctly are also similiar; could there be something in the northeast that would fit that description?
