Should I poly stair treads again after installing and nailing in?
-
Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Aug 17, 2014If you have not yet put the polyurethane on the treads do not do so. Staining can be done, but its best to wait to put color and sealers on after the stairs are installed. The best quality staircase construction uses glue and any paint, stain or sealers will prevent the glue from doing its best job. Of course depending upon the type of stair your building this may not be a issue. In any case during the construction phase of the stairs you may risk scratching or damaging the final finish which will require much more work in prep for the new coat of the sealer. At most stain at best do it once its complete. Just wait to seal once everything is done.Helpful Reply
