Squirrels are stealing my tomatoes
Next season I plan to build a bigger and better cage for the tomatoes, but imagine these little thieves will be back for more.

Olivia Brady on Aug 17, 2014We have had good success using deer fencing. This year we saved our corn building a frame around it and covering it with deer fence. It looks like a giant display case, but it made all the difference. You have to leave a way to get into it, but it kept the squirrels out.Helpful Reply

Heather on Aug 17, 2014@Olivia Brady this is so similar to what i was thinking about doing, but didn't want to go through all the effort and the little buzzards could still get in. Im glad to hear it worked for you!! I may have to move forward with this. Thanks!!Helpful Reply

Holly on Aug 17, 2014I was always told they were looking for water. Try to put a bowl of water out there and see if that helps.Helpful Reply

Lee Cunningham Green on Aug 17, 2014@Heather I have been a gardener for years and used fencing, human hair, pie- plates you name it. But then I tried something new, I got Christmas ribbon and tied it to the posts on the 4 corners of my garden, it blows in the wind and makes rustling sound. Nothing bothered the garden after I did that. Seems that subtle sound and movement discourages the little guys. I had a serious rabbit, mole, deer and squirrel problem but after the ribbon no problem. :)Helpful Reply
