I think they are black petunia's, is that possible? You have a lovely garden! -
Yes, black petunias are possible. (And Miriam, look at you go with the plant IDs!) Christine, I think the rug beater is called just that, or sometimes a carpet whip. I like the way you have used it as garden sculpture. -
can i put the black flowers into the ground and will i have them next year again...or, how could i get seeds for them???? -
your cookie tin flowers are lovely and I think it is just called a "rug beater"-looks sweet in your yard -
You'll have to plant from seed again next year, Christine. Search for "Black Cat" or "Black Velvet" petunia and you should find online sources. -
thank you douglas.....i will try that...(-: -
Not sure, but this plant might be a Nicotiana, commonly called a "Flowering Tobacco"..if so it is an annual that self sows. Save the seeds and replant next year. -
where do the seeds come from....do i have to wait till the flower dry`s up? i do belive myself, it could be a tobacco plant....and thank you all for your help -
You do not need to deadhead flowering tobacco...when the blooms fall off look for the seeds, and harvest them. -
The flowers on a nicotiana are much smaller than on a petunia and the plants are far more upright. Either way, there is no guarantee that the flowers would come true from seed if you collected it (which you would do as the flowers dry up). -
i better put the flower in a bigger pott then, couse i belive, if the seeds fall off into the gras around on the floor,i will never find them....(-: and, i have only little space to plant stuff and next year, i want to make a flowerthing for bees....we call it BLUMENWIESE....
