Blue Hook Board From a Shipping Crate With a Display Ledge

With young kids and all of their backpacks, purses, hats and umbrellas, I can never have too many hooks in my house! I made this pretty hook board with wood from a shipping crate, a few vintage hooks and a doorknob.
The hook board was made from pieces of a shipping crate I took apart. I used 3 colors of chalk paint on the boards before nailing them together.
A chippy white doorknob serves as the middle hook.
I made sure to use a light coat of vintage white paint over the red stamping on the wood. I definitely didn't want to lose that bit of character on my finished piece!
The display ledge is the edge of the crate that I didn't take apart. It would be great for displaying a few photos or some vintage finds. Below it, vintage black hooks from a flea market go nicely alongside the white doorknob.
Functional, pretty and, other than the hooks themselves, basically free! Who could ask for more!
