Mud Room Makeover
by

(IC: homeowner)
Recently I finished our mudroom. It was a step by step process that literally took 8 years to complete, only because it wasn't the top priority in the lifelong list of renovations needing to be completed in our 1960's home.
I first added wainscotting to define the practical space. Cubbies for each child was a necessity to keep their shoes, gloves and scarves. Hooks for coats and backpacks has made a big difference during the school and winter months.
Using an old cupboard from our kitchen renovation, I was able to organize children's learning and outdoor activity supplies, as well as a place to put odds and ends from the kitchen.
The most recent element was the chalkboard station where the children keep up with their weekly appointments and activities as well as display their artwork.
Although it took a really long time to complete, we are all really enjoying the benefits of taking our time and completing it to our needs.
