My Refinished China Cabinet

When I moved into our home a little over a year ago I was blessed to find an antique china cabinet left in the basement. Yeah!
However, it was a dull, ugly brown. This would never do for the bright kitchen I had planned, so I set to work in changing this right away.
The wood design on the face of the cabinet is a thin wood so I chose a very thin paper stock to slide behind it. The old calendar I had on hand worked out great for this purpose.
After lightly sanding, wiping with a damp cloth and then drying, I applied one coat of Kilz primer. I have been using this primer for years and have always been satisfied with it.
Here's the cabinet with two coats of turquoise paint. This is so much better already.
But even so much better after I brought out the sander and left some of the white primer and the original wood show through.

Free cabinet and leftover paints, total price for my refinished project is zero!

Beautiful! Mine is very similar, with one large drawer under window glass and open-bottomed with detail. Painted it red and absolutely love it! Gives my apartment dining room something that can't be missed!
