Re-doing my bedroom, need help finding a sleep+study loft bed for a good price, any ideas?
it will give me so much more room for friends to come over and watch a movie and stuff and since i will be going to a university in 2 years i'll need a lot of space to work on projects. so the PBteen one is way way way out of my price range (I'm 17, i'm not made of money) does anyone know where i can either puchase one really cheap, or i can find a plan for it so i can build it myself? Thanks!! :)

Dorothy A on Jul 01, 2012If you know someone handy with wood, they may be able to build you one. My husband built two of them for sons that were in small bedrooms and they could set their desk under the bed.Helpful Reply

Miriam Illions on Jul 01, 2012Well Andrea, I admire your determination! Have you heard of Ana White? She has tons of plans for all kinds of woodworking projects on her site, including loft beds! Here's a link: http://ana-white.com/search?keys=loft+bed I'm curious to see what you decide to do. Good luck!Helpful Reply

KMS Woodworks on Jul 03, 2012Andrea...I have two daughters who are also into mermaids...they are a bit younger than you at 13 and 11 and they have watched every episode of H20 just add water at least 4 or 5 times. I wrote an article on lofting beds a while ago...you might find some great tips in there. http://www.networx.com/article/the-fundamentals-of-lofting-a-bed As Miriam noted above the Ana white site has some great Ideas. In this plan http://ana-white.com/2011/08/claires-loft-bed the materials were in the 300 dollar range...that is a lot better than the 1500 for pbteen version. You might be able to further reduce the cost if you used plywood for some of the materials...if GIS plywood is used it would be nicer looking as this is a finish grade sanded ply that can easily be painted. Another option for the desk top would be to use a laminate top like for a kitchen...these can often be found super cheap at resource yards.Helpful Reply

Carolyn on Aug 14, 2015Have you thought about Ikea? They've got loft beds starting at well under $200 and some of them are really nice. The Stuva starts at $364 and has tons of storage and a desk. http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/categories/departments/bedroom/19039/Helpful Reply
