5 "Grown-Up" Items We Hate

Have you ever tried to nap on a throw pillow? I’d rather snuggle with a cotton ball. Decorative pillows in the bedroom are like your grandmother’s chachkis – unnecessary and annoying when you’re making your bed.
Solution: If you think your bed looks sad with only two pillows, try euro-sized pillows instead. They’re larger than standard pillows, so they look better solo.
Here are 4 other “grown-up” items you can do without:
1. Home Phone

You don’t need a home phone. Really, you don’t. Instead, cut that expense and just use your cell. Why pay two phone bills when you could just pay one? BOOM.

2. Cable Television

The average cable bill is $75 a month, and that number is expected to rise about 5 percent every year. If you’re jonesin’ for a TV show in bed, scroll through the endless options on websites like Hulu Plus ($7.99/mo.), or binge watch six episodes of How I Met Your Mother on Netflix ($7.99/mo.). You’ll save some serious cash!

3. Fancy-Shmancy Chinaware

When is the last time you had 12 people over for a formal dinner party? We’re guessing the answer is never. Next time you plan on throwing a dinner party of any size, try these tricks to throw a great party on a budget. No expensive china, no hand-washing, no storing issues.

4. A Formal Living or Dining Room

This isn’t exactly “stuff,’ but it’s a change that could make you really happy. If you aren’t throwing formal get-togethers in your formal living room, repurpose the space into something else. What about a dance-party? Or a yoga room? Or a place to do crafts? Figure out the best way to use your space with these tips!
