Do you Miriam I'm surprised these are not seen in more homes. I think I would prefer one other than a painting.

I think the big thing is that a lot of people are afraid of water inside the house...I know I am. I think about leaks, spills, powering it, mold, mildew, etc. We have so much humidity here that I cannot imagine adding more!

I think they are great, but I have to agree w/ Jeanette. I wouldn't hesitate to get a small one though that sits on an end table or bookcase - the sound is so soothing.

Hi Jeanette. There's not much to worry about to be honest. If you think about it your home runs on two elements - water and electricity and neither work well together and yet both are essential. With modern technology combining the two is made extremely safe and you must have any thing like this installed by a professional.

Humidity is a problem - have you tried a dehumidifier? Might be an idea if you stuff from it ...»

as humidity can cause mold, mildew and other problems as you pointed out.

    Have a great day! Graham

    Hi Terri

There are lots of water features you can buy for the home and over the years I've seen some stunning examples. A friend of mine once had a huge apartment in Hong Kong and he had an indoor waterfall which ran in to the indoor pond... complete with fish! It was extremely beautiful.

    Have a great day! Graham

Graham, I have seen a few that I like too, but never one like you described. Actually, I have put a water feature on my "buy for myself" gift list - then pretent my niece got it for me.

Hi Terri - seems like a great idea! I actually saw the one that my friend had in Hong Kong as I lived their for 6 months many years ago. It really was a stunning indoor feature.

Graham, I think my neice's parents would question how she could afford something like tthe one you are referring to as she is a "poor college student" - lol. I would love one like that, but am getting a small water wall that flows onto river rocks. Also, getting myself one other thing. If you ever go back to Hong Kong, will you stuff me in your suitcase?

I have one in our home, actually 2. I do not run them in the summer due to the humidity, but in the winter months it keeps our home much warmer.

Terri, funny you should mention traveling to Hong Kong - me and the guys are looking to take a trip - it's either going to be Hong Kong or Singapore. Personally I love both. If you have never been I highly recommend them both. I'm lucky as I now live only an hours flight from Singapore and 4 hours from Hong Kong. Have a great day! Graham

Hi Colleen - Yeah, I guess it can be pretty humid at times. I actually live in South East Asia and it's so humid all the time, due to the tropical climate. We have a small courtyard - the home is sort of open-plan - and I've been thinking about putting in some type of water feature there.

Terri they really are a sight to behold. I honestly can't thing of anything more soothing to the soul that the sound of running water. I love being around streams and water fall, it's just so relaxing.

At least now you have a goal and you know what your next project will be once your niece finishes college ;) Have a great day Terri.
