How to use pavers as a driveway
-
Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Aug 22, 2014That is a difficult project. But can be done with enough help and a strong back. The whole trick to doing a driveway and any walkway for that manner is the prep work. Although the pavers will see the tires from the car, the weight is being carried by the hard work you do not see. The base needs to be properly prepared. Depending upon the amount of traffic the driveway will see, the deeper the hole you need to dig. Ideally you want to remove at least 12 inches of soil down from the base in which the pavers will be placed. Compacted gravel will need to be put down. Followed by finer stone dust that again is compacted to almost a concrete like surface. Once that has been done, you place the pavers on top of that. Patterns and colors depend upon the type of paver you purchase. Once the pavers are placed down, a layer of special sand is brushed in that will harden much like grout to lock in the pavers from twisting and to help prevent weeds from growing through. Doing a driveway is nothing like that of a sidewalk Its hard and difficult work. But given enough time and help, anyone can do this. But be prepared to hit some difficulties along the way. And once started its hard to get a contractor in to finish it if you decide to stop working on it.Helpful Reply
