A Farmhouse Table

I purchased a table from a thrift store for $30. It had an awful, greenish stain on it and so I decided to paint it white, then gray, then gray again...anyway, it wasn't right. I always have wanted a farmhouse table and this one is long with great lines. By sanding it back and staining it, I finally achieved that look.
I used a 60grit paper on my sander and then hand sanded it back with 150grit for smoothness.
I used Minwax pre-conditioner and then their dark walnut stain. I only applied one coat and wiped it off quickly to give it an older look (I didn't want it perfectly stained).
The bottom was painted in General Finishes milk paint in the color Driftwood. I feel it complements the dark finish of the wood.
I feel the table now fits my kitchen. A great find and a fun make-over!

The gray adds depth and grounds the table. White would've made it disappear. I love it - good eye!
