What is the easiest way to remove carpet glue from concrete floor?
-
Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Aug 23, 2014While chemicals can work, its not advised as the odors and flammability of many make it dangerous. If its just a small area they can be tried. The only real way to do this is to rent a stone grinder. They come in various types. From a hand held version for rooms about 10 square foot and less to buffing machine types that can do larger up to warehouse size rooms. The buffer machine would work well. It has a special attachment on the bottom that holds cutting wheels and or abrasive stones. As the machine runs it wears the glue off along with leveling high spots on the cement surface. You start with a rough stone moving to finer ones depending upon your desire of the finish. You can get the cement to a high polish if desired, but of course this takes a lot of time. In any case, you will need to move around the floor back and fourth until you remove the offending adhesive. Use a good quality shop vacuum along with a good filter as there will be a lot of dust created in the process. I doubt you can rent this machine at the HD stores, but any commercial rental place that has been around for a while will have them. There a bit heavy so you will need some assistance to carry it to the area where your going to do the work. The job however, once your set up is pretty easy, although time consuming. Depending upon how much glue is down, you can also try using a simple buffing machine with a sanding screen on the bottom, This will work, but you will go through many sanding screens in the process. These screens are not inexpensive so it could run into some money to go that route.Helpful Reply
