Mason Jar Plant 'Photo String'

I've seen lots of posts on pintrest recently of 'photo strings' where people use pegs and pin photos to string tied onto the wall. I wanted to make something like this but i wanted to give it my own twist. I didn't have to go out buy anything, I already had some old mason jars, some string, some compost and some flowers from some random areas of my garden.
Step 1... get two mason jars, I used two matching medium sized ones, with the main part of the lid removed.
Step 2... Using a bag of compost (or soil from the garden) fill the jars to about halfway, you may want mix the soil around a bit to get rid of any clumps.
Step 3... Using a spoon carefully ease the flower/plant out, don't dig too deep incase you damage the root!
Step 4... take the metal ring off the jar, and place the plant in, then spoon some more compost in until you're happy with how stable your plant is. (you may want to add a bit of water to let the roots grow into the new soil.) And then carefully put the ring back on.
Step 5. Add a bamboo stick into each jar (I took one long one and cut it i half, but long ones work fine, just less stable)
Step 6. Tie your string or twine around each stick of bamboo, make sure its tight.
Additional steps! I took some wooden hearts which had fallen off a beaded door and hot glued them to the pegs.
However when I attached my photos I realised it was no longer balanced so I slipped some popsicle sticks on the back of the pictures and it was perfectly balanced again!
And There you have a mason jar- Plant pot- photo string- I'm really pleased with results and have now followed on to other projects inspired by this one i created, I used smaller jars (jam jars) and filled them with coloured sand instead of plants for a different photo string. I also have made more mason jar plants as they look so lovely on their own.

This was my own creation (by Gabi age 14)
