Hanging a coat rack with mirror hooks

I have a coat rack to hang in my foyer. It is made from an old cabinet door. I have decided to use mirror hangers to hang it, but I am not sure if I should use two, or four hangers. Trying to make it secure, yet be able to remove it easily when necessary.
Any suggestions?

It all depends on how heavy the door is. Being a cabinet door, I would guess it's not too heavy. Just make sure to check the weight ratings on the hangers. Make sure to think of the weight of the coats you'll be hanging on it too.

The cabinet door is not that heavy, I am just thinking about the stability of the coat rack once in place on the wall. Usually I see coat racks hung by bolting them through the "wood" and directly into the studs and such. I didn't want to do that with this one, though, and thought mirror hangers would work.

Thinking more about this, I'd be afraid they'd wind up doing more harm, than good, to your walls with coats being lifted on and off them on a daily basis during the time of year coats are used. Instead I'd recommend using either french cleats or keyhole brackets. Either will allow your cabinet door to set flush against the wall too.

I am not sure what a french cleat is, but I will look it up. As for the keyhole brackets, I don't have the width available in the wood.

Here's a good illustration of what a french cleat is. http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/41XyZ3kyZyL.jpg

thank you for the illustration, the hooks I have are not true french cleats, but a similar set up - here is the Lowes.com pic of the item I have: http://www.lowes.com/pd_334848-37672-121158_0__?productId=3306352&Ntt=picture+hangers&Ns=p_product_price|0&pl=1¤tURL=%3FNs%3Dp_product_price%7C0%26Ntt%3Dpicture%2Bhangers%26page%3D2&facetInfo=

@Those should work just fine Shirley. That's not what I thought you meant when you said mirror hangers. Again I'd check what the weight recommendations are on the package for how many needed for the weight of what you're hanging.

I'd use a cleat to hang it. If it's going to be heavier when things are hung on it, this will definitely hold it in place securely. They have them where they hold up to 100lbs. :) You can purchase them at Home Depot.
