I have killed cacti, but yeah, they are pretty goof-proof. And they don't get enough respect even though they are beautiful and come in such a variety of colors and shapes.

Very pretty planter. I love succulents--and most are so easy to propagate.

Steve, what did you to to kill succulents? How????? My hens and chicks are spreading like...chicks ! This is a very cute arrangement, I try to think of cute ways to show mine, but they dont seem to be an eyecatcher like this.

Can they thrive indoors? Anyone know?

Bernice, they would probably do OK indoors if you can provide bright enough light.

Bernice, I had a cactus in my dorm room in college that died from complete neglect.

Oh Steve, be still my heart...you killed a succulent ...by neglect? How much attention does a succulent need? You poor guy, people must walk across the street when they see you coming!

Hey now. Be nice. I was 17, and I was never in my dorm room. I pretty much just slept there, and totally forgot about this little tiny cactus that someone gave me. I am not proud of it, but it's true.

But yes, for the most part, cacti are unkillable.

Ok Steve....you are forgiven. Because at 17.....we all need forgiveness. However, watch out for the big cacti..little cacti relatives. They can fight back! A couple of pictures on HT of them!

I hate to say, because I'll get blasted worse than Steve, but I can kill Cacti and succulents also. And I worked in a nursery! I did learn how NOT to kill them, but decided I should keep my distance from them - I'm much better at things like Ivy and Philodendrons! Maybe they got word from the early ones I killed at work - hee hee!

Succulents are my new favorite things because they are the one thing I seem not to kill. Hey-the kids get fed and "watered" each day, I should get credit for that right?

Just put hens & chicks in my "dead" zen solar fountain and small bed at the end of my driveway. I need to put black mulch as the soil looks so dried out.

I agree about the soil. I have encountered that as well.
