Elaine I've never been able to sell mine. People around these parts just don't get them. I'd love to see photos of yours! -
Ya I do get people who say - These go outside - what about hail, little boys, etc. I try to tell them that I have the same weather and family too. They sell best at outdoor craft shows/ flea markets. Lately I've sold solar patio jars, too. -

Thanks for sharing the picture Elaine! Very pretty! -
Kelly S have you seen these? Everyone has such neat ideas and pieces! -
Just now and now I know what I can use the purple glass lid I found. Bird bath! Now I have to get more glass as I donated all my not so-special-stuff I received over the years last year when cleaning out some cabinets. -
Tammy Brenner gail--My Repurposed Life I also use GE11silicone clear..we have VERY hot summers, and pretty darn cold winters. My bowling balls with half marbles stood the test of time all winters and summers long. Finally after 4 years or so, some of them started falling off, not a big deal. The bowling balls themselves get really hot in the sun. I also use ...» -
Bernice H Yard sales are THE best for glassware. Thrift stores are too high. I'm in need of some for an upcoming project (terrariums) I searched through my stash and I don't have anything doable. I do NOT want to start hunting glassware, it's too addictive! -
Addictive is right. I used the E6000 on my metal ones and the flowers came of the spoon, not enough glue or maybe too much and it didn't cure? Anyway I do have a drill and drill bits so I'm going shopping in the garage for nuts and bolts tomorrow. I'll check out a few garage sales in the area also. I only allow myself to buy the "sale" tag color stuff at Goodwill for my crafting. Each week a different colored tag is 50% off. -
Kelly S I haven't used E6000, so I really don't know. I have drilled china for teacup lamps... it's not easy on the drill. color tag sale at Goodwill.... NEVER in my area, EVER! no sales. how sad is that. There's a great junk store I want to go to tomorrow... but thinking they might not be open because of the KY Derby. hope you find good stuff! -
The 2 in my area have a different color each week. That way merchandise doesn't hang around forever. If it's not gone in 3 weeks then 1/2 off. Woohoo. I wait until it's 1/2 off unless I absolutely positively have to have it. Yes it may not be there when it's color comes around, but oh well, something else will be. -
the good yard sale stuff is usually gone by Saturday. I've often thought about making my own 3 day weekend and spend Friday going sale shopping. Sounds like a plan for June, but then we might get furlough days and then I won't have to burn leave. -
I have got to try this! It's so pretty. Thanks for sharing! -
I have a friend who works volunteers at a thrift center and she makes these! Mine blew over last summer and broke but she promised to make me another one! -
Thrift stores are great places for the "ingredients" in case you don'twant to use your grandma's heirlooms. -
Has anyone tried drilling and turning one of these into a fountain? -
Kelly S what have you done recently?I made more flowers, but hubs hasn't cut the pvc..I also have a little quirk. they are straight forward, not tilted, I used something else on the back and forgot to tilt! I like them short so they hide in plant leaves; and looking straight on, untilted they are not so readily seen. Will have to figure something else out. I have 3 more ready to give away when adjusted or stick in my already ...» -
Dallor stores and dollar tree has glass plates and vases/candel holders really cheap. some even have floral designs on them. -
I think I found another item to use for the back of the flowers instead of spoons. I can't get the spoons flat enough for the glue or caulk to work. I also have 3 or 4 more ready to go and I made 2 oval tiers for my bathroom vanity. -
Diane Noonan I have drilled glass for teacup lamps, although it's not all that difficult it's hard on the cordless drill. -
I have so much old glassware here that's just been taking up room for no good reason. This is a perfect way to put it to use. My gardens are paramount to me and I love adding new garden art. -
ohhh, you'll love doing these! -
I made one last year and left it out over winter. It held up beautifully. We had quite a winter this year too. If it lasted through this winter I'm guessing it will last quite a while. -
Mine has been out for 3 or 4 winters. I do bring it under the patio during the dead of winter because of possible ice storms. -
So Kelly S what are you using for the backs? -
I have some left over semi flat metal stakes for garden edging. They didn't work at holding the edging in so I figured what the heck, I'll try these. I drilled a hole nd bolted one on with the metal flower pieces. I'm going to drill the other metal flowers and put some back to back so that I can see the pretty flowers from the front deck. Sunday I'll post pictures of the flowers and the polatems that should be done by this weekend.
