We Transformed Our Dining Room- Come See The Result!

We recently finished giving our dining room a makeover using lots of hard work, patience and DIY projects. It took about nine months to complete the transformation, but I am so excited about how it turned out!
We have a run-of-the-mill 1947 ranch style house and it has no formal dining room. However, our living room is a long rectangle so we use one corner as our quasi dining room. As you can see, before we started the makeover, the dining space it was very sparse and lackluster
We started by painting the room a light beige color. My handy husband made a sliding barn style door and I made some "art" for the wall. After begging my husband for several weeks, we also invested in some Eames knock off shell chairs.
Around Christmas time, my husband finished making a dining table using reclaimed cedar and scrap steel - what a great Christmas gift!
This finishing touches came in the spring, with a new rug (which I diligently saved up to purchase), an up-cycled light from the Habitat Re-store and some decor accessories including toss pillows I sewed myself.
It took several months of hard work and patient saving, but I am so happy about our dining room makeover. It's exactly what I had envisioned and it's so nice to have a beautiful and inviting space for family meals.
