Kitchen Makeover Bistro Style

This very budget friendly kitchen was made over almost entirely by ourselves. Cupboards were painted and glazed, hood range was made from scratch and the island was put together from cupboards from Home Depot. The big splurge was the granite countertop. The little awning adds that Bistro Charm.
I had this kitchen awning made for me. I drew out a picture of what I wanted, picked up some fabric and gave the dimensions to someone who sews, and viola. She made it beautiful.
I hired a company with a CNC machine to cut some MDF cupboards for me. I then sanded, prined, sanded, painted, sanded again, painted again and finally finshed the them with a spray varnish.
My husband made this island from stock cupboards we bought from Home Depot. He put them together and finished the other sides with mdf to match the doors. Put together this way was very inexpensive compared to ordering a custom made island.
Bronze fixtures show beautifully against the beadboard backsplash and the granite countertop as well as match the bronze cabinet hardware.
My husaband also made this range hood cover. We ordered the hood itself and he built the box around it to match the kitchen and the backsplash.
