You can either just frame it off on your drywall or you can put up some type of MDF or luan boards and frame that out. It's really up to you because choices are many. You can just ask at your hardware store too.

You can use plain white tileboard and paint and nail on the "battens". Make sure to use a satin or glossy paint that's for bathrooms or kitchens and caulk the joints with white bathroom caulk.

For Board and Batten how to check out southern hospitality or The Joy of Moldings.com. Great instructions!

Just google "joy of moldings" without the quotations of course and you should see it as one of the first choices.

Get it at the hardware stores like Home Depot or Lowe's or your local lumber & hardware store. My daughter used a tile board stamped to look like board and batten wainscot, while I used real wood board and batten 4 ft. half sheets from HD. She wishes she had used the real wood as it looks much better. Paint it with a mold and mildew resistant paint (which should be used anytime when painting rooms with high humidity). To coordinate, I found a B&B cabinet door at local Restore Habitat for Humanity. Painted it to match wainscot B&B, turned it horizontal, added 2 decorative hooks, nailed it on wall near tub to make a great place to hang towels. Good luck.
