Adrianne C on Sep 02, 2014We have some thing that may be similar in NW Florida. Ours is a lighter pink and is a fungus that attaches itself to the plant. Ours is kind of hard, like plastic.Helpful Reply

Douglas Hunt on Sep 02, 2014I think KB is correct. It's easy to see where it gets its common name, American strawberry bush, and it is native to the shady understory of moist forests, which sounds like exactly where you found it.Helpful Reply
