How to Make a Burlap Birds Nest for Any Season

30 Minutes
Easy
I used 5" wide burlap ribbon and Long strips of painters tarp (also cut into 4" wide strips) For one nest I used approx 6 to 7' in length of both the burlap and the canvas material (tarp).
The messier the fabric strips the better the nest looks to me, so I frayed the canvas strips. I then rolled each strip lengthwise (individually). My long "tootsie rolls" were not perfectly rolled up. In some areas they were tightly rolled and in others they were loose.
I put the burlap and canvas roll ends together.......and started coiling them like a snake and using hot glue to secure the coil.
To add some interest I cut up (on purpose) a very crooked rectangular piece of burlap. Twisted the middle so it resembled a cockeyed bow tie and hot glued the "bow tie" in a gap in my nest.
I also added 2 pieces of rusted heavy gauge wire fencing (you can substitute this for a rusty coat hanger or some heavy gauge wire you have painted brown (maybe?) or leave it out. I bent the wire into a really ugly circle and inserted one end in a gap and just bent it into the nest where I saw fit.
I also as one last touch added 3 feathers with the aid of hot glue.
This nest is approximately 9" in diameter.
