With Back to School in full swing, I felt like I needed to organize our entry way. Our front door opens up into our living room but we have a coat closet right behind the front door. Shoes were a major problem so I thought I'd tackle those first. I decided to use wood crates from the craft store.
I bought two crates using a 50% off coupon. Then I used Emerald Spray Paint to add a nice pop of color.
Next, I added four "L" brackets to the front of each crate to give it a campaign style look. I added 4 casters to each crate and then added a cup pull.
The entry closet isn't finished yet but these crates are working GREAT for shoe storage so far! I put the adult shoes in one box and the kid shoes in another. Head over to Houseologie (link below) to see 9 more amazing projects using these wood crates.

Have a question about this project?
what Are the little brass fixtures in the corners called? They are very aesthetically pleasing to the eye. (Just so I know what to ask for) I already have the crate, the exact drawer pull, and 2 out of 4 wheels. So I need to go to the hardware store for the rest. My 17 year old son is going to do this project. This is a great idea. I’m not sure if I want to put dog toys in this or maybe a few throw blankets for the couches. Thanks for the super diy!
