Painted Rug

I painted stripes on the back of my hounds tooth rug. I used blue tape for the stripes and regular old latex paint that I had stashed in the basement. One side hounds tooth the other side beachy stripes! Check out the play by play at http://thelovelyresidence.blogspot.com/2012/...

Good beachy color combination! Did you seal the paint when you were finished?

I didn't use any sealer, I just let it dry for a good 24 hrs. It is still in great condition 4 months later.

I want to do my solid cream color living room rug and really don't have a space like a garage to do it in... yours turned out wonderful and if I can get my cats to stay off it I'm taking your cue! I bought fabric paint so we will see how it works! Thanks for the info!

Love the summer winter idea. Just went to your blog and it was fun and informative. You're bound to get a match by using left over paint. I've seen similiar projects using oil cloth or left over vinyl but never just flipping over the are rug. Love your numbers on the steps as well.

Hi! Nikki O here. We have been using the rug for about 4 months now and the paint has held up well, no chipping. The rug has an indoor/outdoor rug feel. Since it's in our entry way no one is laying down on it, so the texture was not a concern for me. Happy painting!

The rug is indoor/outdoor and the back is rough and hard, like you wouldn't want to curl up on it.
