Next year plans

Since I'm a new gardener (and am making this up as I go) I expect to make a log of changes. I've already thought about what I should do to improve for next year. I've added a few plants and moved a few around. Suggestions are welcome.

This is my plan color coded by what I need to DO to make this garden happen. Some plants will need to be moved, some purchased, and some pulled out...

I keep a "Gardening Journal" noting what grows well and what does not. Since I can't remember from one year to the next, I rely on my garden notes. In late fall I put white plastic knives with the plant names written on them in the ground to remind me where my perennials are. You're smart to plan ahead Michelle.

The white plastic knives is a brilliant idea. I may use that! Thx.

Planning ahead is something gardeners definitely need to learn to do. I often take photos to help remind me, so I'm not, for example, in the position of having to reconjure spring's daffodils months later when its time to plan a fall bulb order.
