Thank-you for bringing up this necessary reminder. We so often overlook the little things. One suggestion: with your advice to check these out 2x's a year I would coordinate it with testing/replacement of smoke detector batteries-every April and October.

My major gripe is the service call where the previous electrician......especially in new home construction and remodles, back stabs the wire into the devices. It only takes a minuet or two more to use the screw terminals for a secure connection and to prevent service calls.
I thought you meant that decorative faceplates are dangerous, but you have some good tips and some cool faceplates. I love the Endless Summer plate. That movie is my happy place.
