Wood Shim Pennant

I have used wood shims in about a million different home decor projects, and this is the latest. This project would also be great if you had #ReclaimedWood from a pallet or another project, just cut it down to size!
I took an old map (free at the library where I work) and used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out the vinyl quote (a Stevie Nicks lyrics). Then I used my miter saw to cut down the wood shims, glue them to a 1x2 with Gorilla glue, and stained them. Once stained they looked a little less than fabulous, so I added some gold accents with craft paint. After the stain and paint dried I used spray glue to attach the map.
The pennant lives in a little corner of my guest room.
I took this picture standing inside the build in closet office in the guest room, looking out into the rest of the room. I've got a giant frame made of wood shims and the wood shim pennant right next to each other so the decor looks a bit more cohesive.
