Tropical Back Porch Paradise

I've been struggling with decorating by back porch but I think I've finally got the look I was wanting! Check out my little bit of paradise! I mounted a mantel on one wall and surrounded it with lush tropical plants. There is a small table with a couple of chairs. On the other end, a HAMMOCK! The drop cloth curtains add the final touch. Love the picture of the tropical palms surrounded by the real palms and ferns.

Thank you Steve! It was a poster that I mod podged onto a piece of thin plywood and used bamboo as a frame.

I really think adding the plants worked in this area and would work in a living room, too. Before I added the plants, it seemed to bare, it was lacking something. I already had the one palm so I purchase another to balance both sides, adding a little extra height. If you don't have 2 ferns or a fireplace screen, you could use one fern in front of the mantel. If you don't have a fireplace, a large shelf decorated like a mantel could work as well.

I agree, the plants give it the tropical feel. The color of the mantel too.
