Front Porch Gatherings

This spring I spruced up the front porch to include several seating areas. Our porch has a depth of 10 feet so there is plenty of room. On one side I used my vintage glider that my son and husband refurbished for me. On the opposite end, I used a mixture of wooden rockers and white wicker. Too see more, visit my blog at...

Very pretty and homey. Wouldn't want to leave the porch. Love that glider.

Great work. Tammy, I lived in Louisiana for a year, and remember whole neighborhoods pretty much living on someone's front porch, so I know this will be put to good use. Laissez le bon temps Roulez (probably massacred the spelling of that, but you know what I mean).

Your porch is so inviting! I have a vintage glider too - how did you restore yours? Is that the original paint? How did you seal it?

Hi EclecVintage! I saw yours on your blog! You got an awesome deal on yours! After the patch welding was done on ours, my son spray painted it with a metal paint. We didn't seal it since it's on a covered porch.

Your glider looks great. Your wicker goes well with it, especially since the open weave inserts in the glider's back are similar to the white wicker furniture you've used on the other side of the porch.

Thanks for the info - how did you clean it? All those nooks and crannies are tough to get into!

My son used a comb wire brush on a grinder to get to all those nooks and crannies. After all the rust was removed and smoothing all the areas where it was welded, he wiped it down good and primed it with Rustoleum Automotive Primer. He then spayed painted it with a paint that was for metal.
