What do you suggest when refinishing kitchen cabinets with chalk paint

I want to redo my kitchen cabinets in chalk paint. I like the look wax gives but I understand that wax is not really durable enough to be cleaned or wiped down constantly but I don't want the cabinets to have too much shine. What do you suggest?

  • Rustoleum has a matte finish water clean polyurethane. I used it on my kitchen cabinets.

I wouldn't use chalk paint on a kitchen cabinet. The color changes slightly with a finish coat, even one that is supposed to be clear. Every time I use chalk paint thinking that it will save me time and steps, it takes longer and is harder. There are no fumes but... I prefer a primer coat and oil based paint.
