Fake a window over kitchen sink
-
Carole on Sep 14, 2014Not the same as a view but a mirror over the sink area will enable you to see what is going on behind you and will make the small room feel larger. You may feel less like you are facing a wall whilst washing dishes. Or, a picture with some depth to it or a trompe l'oile - I am sure I have not spelled that right but you know what I mean, one of those paintings that tricks the eye into thinking you have a view - it gives depth. Other than that - changing the sink so that it looks into the middle of the room - but that is a headache and expense from the plumbing point of view and you may find you are no better off after!Helpful Reply

Country Design Home on Feb 01, 2015We have been working on my mom's kitchen and she also did not have a window over her sink, which she missed. She found an old window that someone had put a mirror behind, then added a small shelf to the front bottom to create a "windowsill" where she can put a few of her favorite things. It reflects the light from the over sink light and the adjacent window, making the room brighter and giving it a window-like appearance.Helpful Reply
