DIY Fabric headboard

I love making headboards. This little cottage bedroom needed some bold color and some height (despite the 7" ceilings!)
My only option for placing the bed was between the windows and I hesitated to block the light, but I think this headboard gives me the height and pattern I was looking for, without compromising the natural light.
I used 1/2" MDF, 2 yards of Sunbrella, some quilt batting and a staple gun. Using a 2x4 for stablility and to bump it out to the level of the window sills worked perfectly.
