The Accusing Parlor

When we bought our house, there was a room that was described as a formal living room. We aren't formal people at all, and couldn't figure out what to do with this space. As we were unpacking, we realized that my love of reading had taken over so many nooks and crannies. I had always dreamed of having a library, so we decided that the perfect use for this space would be a library. I have a huge love of British murder mysteries, and we fondly refer to this room as The Accusing Parlor.
We used Ikea bookcases to line the walls. The room is filled with pieces that are important to both of us. We joke that Scott will interview future suitors of the girls in this room. ;)
Our accusing parlor is screaming for a comfy couch, or at least more seating. It's still a work in progress, as you can see, but I love the feel of it. We added an electric fireplace, both for heating reasons and the overall feel. After all, what's an accusing parlor without a fireplace?!
