Donna H on Sep 17, 2014The vanity mirror is a I will call tri fold the two sides fold in to the middle mirror! I want this in my home but, smell is too overwhelming. Also has rolling wheels that are original to the vanity. Don't know how to put pictures on here so will describe as good as I can. Has no finish left on some parts of the wood can I lightly sand it and refinish the wood with an oil or stain or maybe chalk paint. Mirrors are in bad shape , scrapes in some places on them. It has four drawers ,two on each side. Help I wanna get it into my house before It gets toasted. It's in my storage shed right out of the elements. Thanks to any help and suggestions. It is a ladies vanity!Helpful Reply

Kim Clark on Sep 17, 2014To remove the smell... try using Zinsser Bullseye Clear Shellac. It's available in a spray can and dries quickly. It's never failed me when I get a musty smelling piece of furniture in. Amazon has it here: http://www.amazon.com/Rust-Oleum-Zinsser-408-Bulls-Shellac/dp/B0009X8HWG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1411009237&sr=8-1&keywords=zinsser+shellacHelpful Reply

Jeanette S on Sep 18, 2014What you have to do is clean it really well first...this is not only the drawers, but every piece of wood...inside and outside the drawers...tops, bottoms, sides and then the same for the frame...clean even the underside of the bracing! This is a must! Use Clorox first to cut any mildew or as Adrianne C said, "accidents". (Be careful...use a rather damp rag instead of spraying...that stuff is not good to breathe in...use a mask too because you will be sticking you head really close if not inside! Use gloves too!) Then you can wash with 409...again with a damp rag...(throw all these rags away). Then step back and spray lightly with 409...every surface...wiping down to dry any finished wood. (You can spray with Clorox before the 409 if you have it in a place of good ventilation and a place that can take bleach...like a workshop! Once this is done, you can then spray with Febreze. Luckily I had some Oust (that is no longer made...if you find some on ebay...buy NOW!). I used most of my last can to get the smoking odor out of a cabinet I bought and then out of my living room where I was working on it (rain for months forced me inside). It will take SEVERAL washings and sprayings to get it in shape. But some pieces are worth it!Helpful Reply

Wildfan33 on Sep 18, 2014Clean it well, all parts inside and out. Then I used a product callecd "Zero Odor". GREAT success with this. I purchased mine at Bed, Bath and Beyond. I used it on two antique dressers then were laden with old, nasty cigarette smoke. After a couple (2) treatments, the smell is completely gone and I can use those dressers without the smell. Good Luck!Helpful Reply
