Decks & Patios Furniture Gardening

Revamping a backyard deck the DIY style to add color and charm for a cozy and inviting space.

We had a backyard deck that was screaming for some attention and color. I wanted to make the area to be cozy, inviting and have some color. So we took a weathered Teak wood bench, an old window frame, some really weathered Adirondack chairs, some wood, power tools and lots of paint and created a wonderful space on the

deck. We're very pleased with how it turned out.

Its sad for me to see teak painted...but sometimes it is the best option. Restoring teak to its original beauty is a LOT of work. Paint is easy by comparison and you get the added benefit of COLOR...which you have done nicely.

Thank you KMS. I totally understand, teak is a beautiful wood but this bench was really splitting, our own fault for leaving it in the outdoor elements for far too long without care. I have two other teak benches just like the one I painted that aren't in the weather. They aren't splitting but do need an oil rub soon. Thanks so much for your comment/compliment.

The colors are cheerful and paint job very nice, but the addition of the painted window and window box is the icing on the cake. So much fun!!

    DuAnn,

Thanks so much for your compliment. I used Pebeo Porcelaine but you could use any exterior glass paint. I've seen several other brands at my local Hobby Lobby. My window is under the eave so I'm not worried about rain. In fact we had a severe storm about a week ago and no problems. Plus we've had 100 degree day sun beaming on it, no fading at all.

You used Paint on the panes themselves? WOW I thought it was Cellophane or that stuff they use to darken windows...THANKS for asking the question DuAnn...I seriously did not think that was paint...You did a wonderful job of keeping the streaks out...
