We am clearing an area in my yard for a new toy themed flower garden (using vintage materials to set the theme) and have baby trees from THIS tree popping up everywhere! I don't mind this mama tree, it provides great shade, but these baby trees are driving me NUTS! They are everywhere!! Here are some pics, a close up of a leaf, the bark, and far off. Is it a type of oak? I dont know, I am stumped, hahahahaha!!!!
Enjoyed the project?

DORLIS on Jun 28, 2015I agree, looks like a hickory. Many of the "baby" trees were planted by squirrels last year. I have hickory and all species of oak around my house and he squirrels plant lots of acorns and hickory nuts We just mow them down and if the does not work, cut them down and put vinegar on the stump. Don't saturate the ground or the vinegar will kill all it touches.
