Darla on Sep 22, 2014Maybe you could have someone put Velcro on the reacher and the other part of the Velcro on your chair or wherever you spend most of your time? It also helps if you can wear an apron or something on your lap to catch small things.Helpful Reply

Woodbridge Environmental Tiptophouse.com on Sep 24, 2014@Diana Your not alone with this issue. More and more homes are being modified because of us baby boomers that are staying put in our homes or have had issues with mobility. This has created a entirely new niche of contractors that specialize in living in place modifications. NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) for a list of contractors that are certified as CAPS professionals. These contractors have special training in making homes more user friendly. Many are in tune with local codes and programs that can assist you with conversions that your home and you will require as we get older and less spry. A few things that have changed sense this program has come into existence is door handles. You will see more and more new homes with handles on the doors instead of the round knobs we used growing up. Reason is its much easier for use to push the handle then to grip and turn it. Another trick is to have a package shelf installed by the outside door. This way you can place your package on the shelf while you fuss with your door key. Lot easier then bending over to place it on ground then have to pick it up again. These and hundreds of new modifications can be done to homes to help us.
