Lampshade Makeover, Book Pages and a Little Wrinkling of Papers!

Turn an old Lamp Shade into a Whimsical, ORIGINAL, Piece of Reading Material! I used OLD BOOKS found in the TRASH. Pages rumpled up and hot glued to the lamp shade. Now my LAMPSHADE looks like it is wearing a literary SKIRT! s
You won't believe what a pile of old book pages can become! I found a HUGE stack of books next to a Dumpster. None of them even worth reading. I decided to give them new life as a RUFFLY LAMPSHADE SKIRT. I had my kids get involved with thoroughly rumpling up every page.
I started at the bottom of my lamp shade, using HOT GLUE and CINCHING each page at the top. I spaced the pages apart so I could fill in and create a RUFFLY SKIRT look.
Halfway completed! I kept working in rows, but you can put the pages on RANDOMLY and or go back and add more pages where the skirt needs more filling.
Here is my finished BOOK PAGE LAMP SHADE. None of the papers are anywhere near the light, so worrying about a possible fire is not an issue. I used Black Braided gimp to trim out the top and give my BOOK PAGE LAMPSHADE a more finished look. I was almost going to skip over this post but I'm glad I didn't! I think this is quite a novel (pardon the pun!) idea of yours. It makes me think of other possible papers to use such as: layers of pink tissue paper might resemble a ballet dancer's tutu OR plain crumpled-up plain paper lunch bags could add a rustic look and old sheet music is another possibilty. One is only limited by their imagination! :)

PS: I forgot to add that it also makes me consider using scraps of fabric in lieu of paper - just cut out squares (or circles, etc.) and simply start gluing. Layers of tulle would be quite charming in a little girl's room or layers of burlap or anything your heart desires!
