Do you mean painting a wall with somewhat new chalk-paint, or are you wanting to paint a wall to be a chalk board?

  @Evel I've added a recipe from Martha Stewart's website on how to make your own chalk paint. I've not tried it yet, but coming from Martha, I'd trust it. My hubby has used both the premixed latex can and spray of chalkboard paint. He preferred the latex the best. He felt he had more control. You can also use just plain latex paint by what I've heard from another Hometalker. I have a satin black painted bookcase in our kitchen so I decided to test it for you just now. Sure enough, chalk showed up just as well on it as it does on our chalkboard painted pantry door. You can paint the walls any color you want as long as it's dark enough for the white and light colored chalk to show.
