Ours is a Foodsaver brand and it is no longer vacuuming like it is supposed to...sort of "lazy". It seals fine...no foodstuffs leak out. Any suggestions?

  • Jeannette I have been 3 of these since they came out years ago! I use mine to seal potato chips, cereal bags, and any other type of plastic bag. I rarely use it for vacuuming but when I do I know mine has to be positioned just right and make sure there are no crumbs in the valley where the vacuuming happens. When we had 4 kids the life span was only about 3 years because it was used almost daily. I am about ready to upgrade to the standing on edge one to take up less room. You could always call the company and ask them for help. but 5 years and mine is ready to retire. good luck

Mine has worked fine until just recently, so I know I am not doing anything differently than before. Since you have had 3, they must not work for very long. ???

@The Garden Frog with C Renee We have had ours just over a year and it has worked perfectly and I love it. Then last week it still seals perfectly, just does not vacuum. It makes the noises, but sucks only about half the air out! I will contact FoodSaver! Thanks!

I have found that when they arn't vacuuming just take a wet rag and clean off where the rubber strip is around where you put the bag in to and the heat strips. Thats what I do and it works great again.

@Jeri Finch-Barker Thanks, we tried that, but we will do it again. Maybe our eyesight just did not get it well enough...I think we were perhaps a bit too cautious!
