Last summer my husband and I set out to build our own fire pit and pea gravel area... The fire pit turned out great and we use it all the time.
Using pavers and pea gravel we transformed a muddy corner of our yard into a great place to sit around the fire and enjoy the evening.
This corner was in the shade and so was muddy and dark.
After our weekend transformation this corner is a beauty!
Landscaping fabric keeps the weeds at bay under the pea gravel.
A lot of bang for our buck and we did it ourselves!

what type and color pea gravel did you use? I love the color - it gives the look of sand but a little less cat friendly ;)

You could install a natural gas or liquid propane outdoor crossfire burner in that fire pit to avoid the toxins from smoke, fire danger from ashes and embers, cause less harm to the environment and your neighbors and still enjoy a fire pit experience. :)
